Things to Do

St. Augustine's attractions cluster in and around the old city, making most of the highlights walkable. The Castillo de San Marcos and the Colonial Spanish Quarter Museum give the best feel for the city's 450 years of history. The Lightner Museum and Flagler College are worth visiting for their extraordinary Gilded Age architecture. South across the Bridge of Lions, the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Anastasia State Park fill out an afternoon. The Fort Matanzas National Monument, 14 miles south, is accessible by free ferry and usually uncrowded.
