A car is essential in Tequesta. The village has no public transportation, no bike-share infrastructure, and the distances between the inlet, the river access points, and any services are too far to walk comfortably in the Florida heat. US-1 and Alt A1A are the main roads running through and around the area.
The drive to Jonathan Dickinson State Park (about 12 miles north on US-1) takes 15 to 20 minutes. Blowing Rocks Preserve on Jupiter Island is reached via a short bridge east of the inlet — about 10 minutes from central Tequesta. Jupiter town centre is less than 5 minutes south.
Kayak and canoe outfitters can organise shuttle drops and pickups for river trips, which solves the logistics of one-way paddling routes. This is the most practical way to tackle a longer stretch of the Loxahatchee without car spotting.
