Apalachicola is reached by car. US 98 — the Gulf coast highway — runs through the centre of town and connects east to Tallahassee (75 miles, about 90 minutes) and west to Panama City (75 miles). The nearest major airports are Tallahassee International (TLH), Panama City–Northwest Florida Beaches (ECP), and, for more flight options, Pensacola or Jacksonville.
The small Apalachicola Regional Airport handles general aviation only; there is no commercial service. There is no train service to the Panhandle. From Atlanta the drive is about 5.5 hours straight south via I-75 and US 27.
