The Golden Isles cluster reward exploring beyond St. Simons. Jekyll Island, 20 minutes south, has the historic Millionaires' Village and the spectacular Driftwood Beach. Sea Island is a private resort accessible from St. Simons but mostly off-limits to non-guests. Cumberland Island National Seashore, a wild barrier island reachable only by ferry from St. Marys, is a long but rewarding day. Inland, Brunswick on the mainland has a historic downtown worth an afternoon for its riverfront, shrimp boats, and antebellum architecture.
