St. Simons Island is connected to the mainland at Brunswick by the F.J. Torras Causeway. By car, take exit 29 off I-95 and follow US 17 south to the causeway — about 12 miles from the interstate. The drive across the causeway over the marshes is scenic in itself.
The nearest commercial airport is Jacksonville International (JAX) in Florida, about an hour south, which has more flights and better prices than the small Brunswick Golden Isles Airport (BQK). Savannah/Hilton Head Airport (SAV) is about 90 minutes north.
