Old Brick

Old Brick — properly First Presbyterian Church, 1856 — is the oldest church building in Iowa City still standing and one of the very few in the state from the 1850s. After narrowly escaping demolition in the 1970s, it now operates as an event and concert venue. The simple Greek Revival brick exterior and the soaring sanctuary are worth a look from the outside even if there is no event on.

The building sits one block north of the Pentacrest on the corner of Clinton and Market Streets. The annual Folk-American Music Festival happens here in the spring.
