Boomtown is the casino slightly removed from the boardwalk cluster, set just south on the Red River. Themed as a 19th-century western boomtown, it has a quieter, less corporate feel than its larger neighbours and a loyal following of locals who avoid the noisier riverside venues.
There is a casino floor, a hotel tower, an event centre, and a couple of restaurants — including a buffet that often runs at lower price points than the Horseshoe across the river. The atmosphere is more workaday than tropical, which makes it the obvious choice if you would rather play poker than dodge bachelorette parties.
