Bossier City sits across the Red River from Shreveport, and the two cities function as a single metropolitan area. Bossier's main draw is its cluster of riverboat casinos along the river — Horseshoe, Margaritaville, and Boomtown — where most of the area's gaming action is concentrated.
The Louisiana Boardwalk, a shopping and entertainment district along the river, gives the waterfront some life. Barksdale Air Force Base, home to the 2nd Bomb Wing and the Eighth Air Force Museum, is a major presence in the city. The small East Bank District is the closest thing to a walkable neighbourhood. Beyond the casinos and the base, Bossier City is a practical stop for anyone passing through on Interstate 20 between Dallas and Jackson.
