Joseph Skinner State Park covers the summit of Mount Holyoke, just across the Connecticut River from Northampton. The short climb is rewarded with one of the best views in the Pioneer Valley, looking over the river bends, farms, and college towns below.
The historic Summit House, built in 1851, sits near the top. Come for hiking, a picnic, or a clear-weather viewpoint rather than a long wilderness walk.
