Captain Bangs Hallet House

Furnished sea captain's house museum showing Yarmouth Port's 19th-century maritime prosperity.

The Captain Bangs Hallet House is a furnished sea captain's home in Yarmouth Port, built around 1840 and preserved by the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth. Its appeal is domestic rather than grand: rooms, furniture, and small details that show how Cape Cod's maritime wealth filtered into family life along Route 6A.

It is a good companion to the Winslow Crocker House and the Edward Gorey House, giving Yarmouth's historic north side more depth than a simple drive past old clapboard facades. Opening times can be limited, so check before making a special trip.
