Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum

Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum tells the story of the Marquette Iron Range from inside the old dry building of the Cliffs Shaft Mine. Exhibits cover miners' tools, safety gear, blasting, drilling, ore testing, local history, and the geology that shaped Ishpeming.

The outdoor headframes are the most striking part of the site: tall steel structures once used to lower miners deep underground. Guided tunnel tours and the heavy mining equipment outside make this a worthwhile stop if you are interested in Upper Peninsula industry.
