Presque Isle Park is the obvious starting point — a forested peninsula at the edge of town with swimming holes, a black rock cliff that locals jump off, and the best sunsets in the Upper Peninsula. The historic Lower Harbor Ore Dock gives a sense of Marquette's iron-shipping past.
For a longer adventure, head out to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore for the cliffs and beaches, or to the Sugarloaf Mountain overlook for the city's best panoramic view. Quirky stops include Lakenenland and the genuinely impressive Superior Dome.
