Uptown Theatre

The Uptown Theatre is a 1939 Art Deco cinema on Hennepin Avenue in the heart of the Uptown neighbourhood, one of the few surviving single-screen movie theatres in the Twin Cities. The building's exterior features the marquee and signage typical of the late 1930s Art Deco cinema style, and the interior, while updated, retains the wide-screen proportions and plush seating of the original.

The theatre programs independent, foreign, and limited-release films, as well as special screenings and midnight movie events. It is operated by Landmark Theatres, the art-house chain. The location in the middle of Uptown's commercial strip makes it an easy addition to any evening in the neighbourhood, with restaurants and bars on all sides.
