U.S. Bank Stadium

U.S. Bank Stadium opened in 2016 as the home of the Minnesota Vikings NFL team, replacing the Metrodome that had occupied the same block since 1982. The building — designed by HKS Architects — has a translucent roof of ETFE plastic panels that admits natural light while keeping weather out, and five of its walls are transparent, giving views both into and out of the stadium from the surrounding streets.

The stadium hosted Super Bowl LII in February 2018, the first Super Bowl held in a cold-weather market since 1976, a decision that generated considerable skepticism and ultimately proved successful. Tours of the building are available when no events are scheduled. The surrounding East Town neighbourhood has developed rapidly since the stadium opened, with new hotels and restaurants filling in the blocks between downtown and the stadium.
