Lincoln Children's Zoo is designed for younger visitors, with close-up animal encounters and a scale that does not wear families out. The zoo opened in 1965 and now keeps more than 350 animals, including a number of endangered species.
It is one of Lincoln's main family attractions and draws large local crowds in good weather. Travelers without children may prefer the city's museums and historic sites, but for families this is an easy, reliable stop.
