Ledyard Bridge

The pedestrian and vehicle bridge connecting Hanover to Norwich, Vermont across the Connecticut River. Named for John Ledyard, a Dartmouth student who in 1773 famously carved a dugout canoe and paddled 140 miles down the river to reach his family home in Connecticut. The current bridge dates from 1999. Walking across takes five minutes and puts you in Vermont, where the town of Norwich has its own quiet charms.
