Atlantic City's restaurant scene is dominated by the casinos, which between them offer most cuisines and price points from cheap buffets to celebrity-chef restaurants. Borgata has the highest concentration of serious dining options, including a Wolfgang Puck restaurant. Hard Rock has a food hall with decent options at boardwalk prices.
Outside the casinos, the boardwalk strip has seafood restaurants, clam bars, and the iconic saltwater taffy shops that have been here in various forms since the 1880s. Freshness varies: the closest thing to a local culinary tradition is simply eating seafood at a picnic table by the beach. For a more substantial meal, the restaurants on Atlantic and Pacific Avenues, one and two blocks from the boardwalk, tend to be cheaper and more consistent than the tourist-facing establishments on the boardwalk itself.
