Belmar's eating scene centres on Main Street between 9th and 11th Avenues and the marina waterfront. The emphasis is on seafood — clam chowder, fish tacos, fried clams, lobster rolls — served in casual spots where you order at a counter or sit at a picnic table. The marina district has the best fish markets and the freshest fish. Main Street has more variety and stays open later. Neither area is going to win any fine-dining awards, which is exactly as it should be on the Jersey Shore.
