Cool Scoops, on New Jersey Avenue in North Wildwood, is a deliberate throwback to a 1950s soda fountain: pink booths, a full-size restored Edsel parked in the dining room, and waitresses in poodle skirts who refill the chocolate sauce on request. The ice cream is locally made by Hershey's of Pennsylvania.
The atmosphere is the draw rather than any particular cone, but the sundaes are generous and the milkshakes are made the right way. It is a five-minute drive or a twenty-minute walk from the boardwalk.
