Treman is the deepest and most dramatic of the three gorge parks ringing Ithaca. Enfield Creek has cut a narrow chasm through the bedrock, and the Gorge Trail follows it for two and a quarter miles past twelve named cascades. The headline drop is Lucifer Falls — 115 feet of water vanishing into a shadowed cleft.
The lower entrance has a stone-edged swimming pool fed directly from the creek; the upper entrance puts you closer to the top of Lucifer Falls and the long walk down. Either is good. Allow two to three hours for the round trip; in spring the trail can be closed by ice through late April.
