The Lucy-Desi Museum on West Third Street is the smaller, older sister to the National Comedy Center a few blocks west. It tells the story of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz: their meeting on the RKO lot in 1940, their twenty-year working partnership, and the way I Love Lucy invented the situation comedy and the syndication business that still funds Hollywood today.
Highlights include the Pontiac convertible from the Long, Long Trailer film, Lucy and Desi's awards, recreated sets from the show, and personal artefacts donated by the family. A combined ticket with the National Comedy Center makes the most sense — most visitors do them on the same day. Lucy's childhood home is a short drive away on West 8th Street; it's a private residence but visible from the street.
