Jerry Rescue Monument

The Jerry Rescue Monument marks one of Syracuse's best-known Underground Railroad stories. In 1851, abolitionists broke William "Jerry" Henry out of custody after he was arrested under the Fugitive Slave Act, then helped him escape toward Canada. The monument is a compact downtown stop with strong local history.
