Rosamond Gifford Zoo is the main family attraction on Syracuse's west side, set within Burnet Park. It combines outdoor habitats with indoor exhibits, which makes it more weather-proof than many upstate New York outings and a practical choice outside the short summer season.
The zoo is not a reason to visit Syracuse by itself, but it is a strong local POI for families, animal-focused travellers, or anyone looking for a half-day stop away from downtown and the university area. Allow a couple of hours if you want to move at an unhurried pace.
