Boylan Heights is one of Raleigh's most rewarding historic neighbourhood walks, with early twentieth-century houses, porches, mature trees, and a slightly elevated position near downtown. It shows a residential side of the city that museums alone miss.
The pleasure here is wandering slowly and noticing details rather than ticking off a single monument. Be respectful: this is a lived-in neighbourhood, not an open-air museum.
