William B. Umstead Park

William B. Umstead Park is a large state park between Raleigh, Cary, and Durham, with wooded trails, bridle paths, lakes, and picnic areas. Although some trailheads are reached from Cary, the main park access is on the Raleigh side.

It is one of the easiest nature escapes in the Research Triangle and works well for hiking, trail running, cycling on designated routes, or a quiet break from the city.
