Salisbury makes an easy day trip from Charlotte (about 45 minutes by car or train) and a slightly longer one from Greensboro. Equally, it is a good base from which to explore the small-town and wine-country sections of the central North Carolina Piedmont — the Yadkin Valley wineries are 30-45 minutes north along I-77, and the granite town of Granite Quarry and the old mill villages of Spencer and East Spencer sit just to the east.
