Scioto Mile

Downtown riverfront park with trails, a paddling lake, and the Columbus skyline as backdrop

The Scioto Mile is a linear riverfront park running along the Scioto River through downtown Columbus, connecting Bicentennial Park to Battelle Riverfront Park. It is the result of a significant urban renewal effort that removed a parking lot and six-lane road from the river's edge and replaced them with trails, lawns, a paddling lake, and public art.

The path makes for a good morning run or an easy evening walk with skyline views. A small paddling pool (technically a man-made water feature with kayak and canoe rentals) sits between COSI and the main pedestrian bridge. In summer, food trucks and outdoor concerts appear along the route. The view of the LeVeque Tower from the west bank footbridge at sunset is the standard Columbus postcard photograph.
