Coshocton

Eastern Ohio town known for Roscoe Village and its restored canal-era buildings.

Coshocton is a small town in eastern Ohio, best known as the site of Roscoe Village, a partially restored canal town from the 1830s. The village preserves a stretch of the Ohio and Erie Canal era, with a one-room schoolhouse, a doctor's house, a visitor centre explaining canal-era life, and rides on a horse-drawn canal boat. The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, also in Roscoe Village, houses a surprising collection ranging from Native American artefacts and pioneer-era items to East Asian art and European porcelain.

The surrounding countryside is gentle, rolling farmland along the Muskingum and Tuscarawas rivers — pleasant for a quiet stop on a drive through rural Ohio.
