Great Miami River Recreational Trail

The paved recreational trail runs along the Great Miami River through Hamilton, passing the Fitton Center and connecting to the regional network of Miami Valley trails. It's a practical way to see the city from a different angle and to understand how the river shaped Hamilton's development.

The riverfront has been cleaned up considerably over the past decade, with benches, overlooks, and access points scattered along the trail.

A story
The Great Miami River runs through the heart of Hamilton, and the trail along its banks connects the city's parks, downtown district, and neighborhoods. The river was both the source of Hamilton's industrial prosperity — providing water power and transportation — and the cause of devastating floods before dams and flood walls were built in the 1920s.
