Millersburg

Holmes County seat in Ohio Amish Country, with Victorian history, farm stops, and buggy-road scenery.

Millersburg is the county seat of Holmes County and one of the practical bases for Ohio Amish Country. It has enough of its own town life to be more than a signpost: a brick downtown, a serious Victorian house museum, the Holmes County Trail, and farm-country roads that quickly leave the grid behind.

The town's strongest sight is the Victorian House Museum, a 28-room Queen Anne mansion that also tells local Holmes County history. For the Amish Country side of the trip, Yoder's Amish Home and Hershberger's Farm and Bakery are both easy drives through rolling farmland.

Millersburg is best used slowly. Walk the downtown, ride or stroll part of the Holmes County Trail, then take the back roads toward Walnut Creek, Berlin, or Sugarcreek rather than rushing from shop to shop.
