The Valentine Theatre is downtown Toledo's restored 1895 vaudeville house, on the corner of Superior and Adams. The interior — a 901-seat Italianate auditorium with hand-painted murals, ornate plasterwork and box seats — was meticulously restored between 1996 and 1999 after the theatre had spent decades as a movie house and then closed altogether.
It hosts the Toledo Symphony, the Toledo Opera, ballet, Broadway tours, and stand-up. Daytime tours run weekdays for around 10 USD. The Valentine is the obvious place to see live theatre in Toledo; the smaller Stranahan Theatre and the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle handle the overflow.
