Getting Around

Hugo is small enough that the main attractions — the town square, the Circus Ring of Fame, and Mount Olivet Cemetery — are all within walking distance of each other or a short drive apart. There is no public transit. A car is the practical way to get around, and necessary for reaching Hugo Lake State Park, which lies about 20 kilometres east of town. The town itself is flat and easily navigated; most streets in the historic centre are laid out on a simple grid.
