Hugo is most easily reached by car. US Highway 70 runs through town east-west, connecting Hugo to Durant (about 90 kilometres to the west) and Paris, Texas (about 90 kilometres to the southeast). US Highway 271 connects north toward McAlester. There is no passenger rail service and no scheduled commercial air service to Hugo — the nearest commercial airports are in Dallas-Fort Worth (about 280 kilometres south) and Oklahoma City (about 280 kilometres northwest).
Greyhound has historically served southeastern Oklahoma routes, but schedules change; check the current timetable before relying on it. For most visitors, a car is effectively required.
