Lake Lawtonka

A reservoir by the Wichita Mountains used for boating, fishing, camping, and mountain views.

Lake Lawtonka sits north of Lawton at the foot of the Wichita Mountains, giving the city one of its easiest outdoor escapes. The reservoir is used for boating, fishing, camping, and shoreline picnics, with Mount Scott and the granite hills often visible across the water.

For travelers, the lake is best treated as part of a Wichita Mountains day rather than a standalone destination. It works well before or after Mount Scott, Medicine Park, or the wildlife refuge, especially around sunset when the water and low mountains make the area feel much more expansive than Lawton itself.
