Muskogee's dining is rooted in classic eastern Oklahoma fare — chicken-fried steak, brisket, catfish, country breakfasts. A handful of long-running barbecue joints and meat-and-three diners are scattered around the downtown and the South 32nd Street corridor. For something different, the lunch counters of the older drugstores serve a vanishing American small-town experience.
