The best window is mid-April, when Honor Heights Park's 30,000 azaleas come into bloom and the city's biggest event, the Azalea Festival, runs for the full month. October is also good — clear skies, mild days, and the autumn colour through the park. Summer is hot and humid; winters are cold and grey, though rarely snowy.
