Astoria’s Doughboy Monument is a small but poignant riverfront memorial to local soldiers who served in World War I. The bronze infantryman and its position near the Columbia give it a stronger setting than many civic monuments of the same era.
It is not a destination by itself, but it fits naturally into a walk along the riverfront or a ride on the Astoria Riverfront Trolley. Stop for a few minutes, read the names, and then look out at the working river that has always defined the town.
