Heceta Head Lighthouse

Perched on a basalt headland 21 kilometres north of Florence, Heceta Head Lighthouse has been guiding ships since 1894. The white tower and keeper's cottage sit in a cove backed by dark forest, framed by the cape to the south — the composition is why this is the most photographed lighthouse on the Oregon coast. The light itself is still active, one of the most powerful on the coast. A short trail leads up from the car park; the lighthouse is open for tours in summer. The adjacent 1893 keeper's quarters operate as a bed and breakfast.

A story
The lighthouse keeper's house at Heceta Head is reportedly the most photographed lighthouse on the Oregon coast — and one of the most photographed in the United States. It now operates as a B&B, and guests have reported the kind of strange goings-on that have given the place a reputation as one of Oregon's most haunted buildings.
