Lake Woodlands

A 200-acre artificial lake at the heart of the Town Center, surrounded by a continuous trail used by joggers, cyclists, and dog walkers. The 8-mile loop around the lake is the most popular outdoor exercise route in The Woodlands. Sections near the Waterway and Northshore Park are especially scenic.

The lake is stocked with bass, catfish, and crappie — fishing from the banks is common and permitted. Several parks and access points ring the shoreline. Water taxi service connects the Waterway to the lake area on weekends.

A story
Lake Woodlands is artificial — built as a retention pond that became the centerpiece of the entire community plan. It works beautifully: the shoreline trail offers a rare walkable green strip through an otherwise car-dependent suburb, and the lake catches enough breeze to make a summer evening tolerable.
