Kanab's appeal is almost entirely in its surroundings: four major protected areas — Zion, Bryce Canyon, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, and Grand Staircase-Escalante — are all within a two-hour drive. In town, the Parry Lodge and the Little Hollywood Museum remind visitors of Kanab's improbable film history, while Best Friends Animal Sanctuary runs tours of the largest no-kill animal shelter in the United States. The Wire Pass and Buckskin Gulch trailheads, just west of town, access some of the world's finest slot canyon hiking.
