Richmond is a car-friendly city and most visitors drive. Parking in the neighbourhoods (Fan, Carytown, Scott's Addition, Church Hill) is generally free on the street. The downtown core around Capitol Square has metered parking and garages.
By bus, GRTC operates the city bus network and the Pulse, a bus rapid transit line running along Broad Street from Willow Lawn to Rocketts Landing — the most useful public transit route for visitors, connecting Scott's Addition, the museum district, VCU, and downtown. By bike, Richmond has a growing cycling network; Carytown to the Fan to Scott's Addition is doable on the street, and the James River Park trails are accessible by bike. RVA Bike Share has docking stations throughout the city. By ride-share, Uber and Lyft are readily available. On foot, the Fan, Carytown, and Capitol Hill districts are all walkable within themselves; getting between them requires either a bike or a car.
