Things to Do

Richmond carries more American history per square mile than almost any other city: the Virginia State Capitol where Jefferson's design still stands, Monument Avenue's famous (now mostly empty) pedestals, the former Confederate capital's many sites, and a landscape of Civil War memory that is still actively being renegotiated. But the city is also very much alive: the James River park running through the middle of town, a nationally recognised museum of fine arts, and a food and brewery scene that has become one of the best in the South.
