Set in a beautifully restored tobacco warehouse in Shockoe Slip, the Tobacco Company has been Richmond's most ambitious special-occasion restaurant since 1977. The interior is the draw: five stories of open galleries overlooking the atrium, with plants spilling over the balconies and a glass elevator running through the centre. The food — steaks, seafood, Virginia ham — is reliably excellent if not cutting-edge. Worth visiting for the building as much as for the meal.
