Marymoor Park

Marymoor Park occupies a wide, flat stretch along the Sammamish River and the northern tip of Lake Sammamish. The venue side of the park gets most of the attention — summer concerts by well-known acts fill the natural amphitheatre on warm weekends — but the park is just as good on a quiet Tuesday morning when families are cycling the Sammamish River Trail and dogs are sprinting across the off-leash meadows.

The velodrome, officially the Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome, hosts track cycling races from spring through autumn and welcomes beginners to training sessions. It's one of the few public velodromes in the Pacific Northwest. The climbing rock near the park entrance is a 45-foot basalt boulder that has been a beginner and intermediate training site for climbers heading to the Cascades. Rentals and instruction are available on site.

A story
Marymoor is King County's largest and most visited park, drawing over three million people a year to its 640 acres on the north end of Lake Sammamish. It hosts the region's biggest outdoor concert series, a working velodrome, a dog off-leash area that's the largest in the Puget Sound area, and a climbing rock that's been a training ground for local mountaineers for decades.
