PSE Trail

The PSE Trail follows a power-line easement through Redmond, providing a rougher and more natural trail experience than the paved riverside routes. The unpaved surface passes through areas of second-growth forest and open meadow, with the power lines overhead giving it an industrial edge that some find pleasingly honest about what urban green space often is.

The trail connects to the Bridle Crest Trail and eventually to the larger trail network that extends into the east Kirkland hills. Mountain bikers use the trail regularly, and the unpaved sections in wet weather add challenge. For visitors without bikes, it's a good option when the main Sammamish trail feels crowded — the PSE Trail carries far less traffic and has a quieter atmosphere.

A story
The PSE Trail (also called the Puget Power Trail or Redmond Powerline Trail) runs under high-voltage transmission lines through a narrow greenway corridor in north Redmond. The unpaved surface and wilder character set it apart from the manicured Sammamish River Trail nearby — it attracts mountain bikers and equestrians as well as walkers, and connects residential neighborhoods to the broader trail network.
