When to Go

The Iberá wetlands are a year-round destination, but conditions vary significantly by season. April to November is generally the most comfortable time to visit — temperatures are moderate, mosquitoes are less ferocious, and wildlife concentrations are high as animals gather around shrinking water bodies during the dry period. The jaguar reintroduction programme has introduced cubs born mainly in winter (June–August), making this a productive time for jaguar tracking activity.

December to March brings the wet season — heavy rain, high humidity, and mosquitoes in force. Flood events can limit road access and close some wildlife circuits. That said, December to March is when bird life is most intense: egret and ibis colonies are active, migratory species arrive, and the strange-tailed tyrant is displaying in the flooded grasslands. Birders willing to endure the heat and insects often prefer this period.
