The main entry point for most visitors is Colonia Carlos Pellegrini, reached from the town of Mercedes in central Corrientes Province. Mercedes is accessible by bus from Buenos Aires (around 10 hours) and by air from Buenos Aires to Corrientes city (1 hour), then a bus or rental car to Mercedes (200 km, about 2.5 hours). From Mercedes, Provincial Route 40 leads 120 km to Pellegrini: the first 40 km are paved, the remaining 80 km are gravel and require a vehicle with reasonable ground clearance. The road is passable in a standard car in dry conditions; a 4x4 is recommended after rain.
Alternative access portals include the Uguay Gate (82 km from Mercedes, on the road to Pellegrini) and the Rio Corriente Gate (180 km from Corrientes City via RN12 and RN123). Organised tours from Buenos Aires or Corrientes can simplify logistics considerably and include guided wildlife experiences from arrival.
