Across the tunnel, Santa Fe is the obvious half-day trip — a larger and busier provincial capital with the famous Convento de San Francisco and a separate cluster of museums. North of Paraná, the spa town of La Paz sits on the Paraná river with thermal baths and good fishing. The Pre-Delta National Park, around Diamante an hour to the south-west, is the best nearby spot for wildlife — capybara, marsh deer, and the bird life of the upper delta.
