Potosí has a small airport (POI) but scheduled commercial flights are unreliable — check current airline schedules before planning to fly. Most travellers arrive by bus.
The bus terminal (Terminal de Buses) is located about 1 km from the city centre. Services run to and from Sucre (3 hours, frequent), La Paz (6–8 hours, several daily), Oruro (4–5 hours), and Uyuni (5–6 hours). Sucre is the most useful connection — it has better air links and is an easy day trip or stopover.
From La Paz the overnight bus is a standard option, arriving in Potosí in the morning. Several bus companies operate the route with varying comfort levels; the better companies have reclining seats and sometimes beds for overnight services.
