The Universidade de Brasília (UnB) was conceived as a complement to the city itself — a model university for a model capital. The main campus in Asa Norte was largely designed by Niemeyer, with the iconic two-storey Minhocão ("Big Worm") classroom block running 720 metres straight across the campus, raised on long parallel columns.
The site is generally open to visitors during the day. Niemeyer's CEUBE pavilion and the Beijódromo (a circular open-air event space, named for its kissing-couple visitors) are worth a look. The Cinemateca Brasileira branch on campus has a strong film calendar.
